| Frank is a Clinical and Consultant Trichologist, who is an
expert in the study of hair and scalp. A member of the governing
body of the Institute of Trichologists, he is also a lecturer
in Hair Science and has been in practice since 1977. The Hair & Scalp Clinic is based in Ashton-u-Lyne, near to Manchester city centre, and is situated within easy reach of the motorway network.
A Trichologist registered with the Institute of Trichologists will always charge a consultation fee, which may vary from clinic to clinic. A consultation and hair/scalp assessment can take up to one hour. Primarily, a trichologist will seek out the cause of a problem rather than just treat a symptom.
There are many hair clinics that are not run by registered trichologists. These clinics offer a free consultation to induce people in to their establishment. The procedure lasts only a few minutes, without detailed examination and the ‘patient’ is frightened when told that if they don’t start treatment immediately they will lose all their hair within a few months. The fee for treatment is has to be pre-paid and is hundreds, even thousands of pounds.
